Visit with Mom

Mom came to see Alex this weekend. However, we were so busy playing with Alex, cooking or shopping, that we forgot to take a pic of mom and Alex together. We took this pic as Mom was leaving and Alex was already asleep (I had not even brushed my hair - ha!). Mom likes to be called Grandmother to Alex. I think "Granny" will be easier at first though. :)

Play Group

At last Friday's play group, Alex had fun especially when Reagan bounced and sang to her in the bouncey seat. Also, Alex liked little Minnie licking her hands. It was cute. I laughed on the way home as Alex chewed/sucked her hands and visibly showed that her hands tasted different. ha! She made funny faces, but kept sucking her hands. Yes, I cleaned her hands when we got home. :) Unfortunately, I didn't remember to take pics until after little Carsten left the play group. Hopefully, we'll get more pics this week.

Proof of Thumb Found

Even though she found her thumb, she doesn't suck it much. She is too distracted with chewing burp cloths, toys, hands, or just babbling. I just thought this pic was cute as she sucked it for maybe a minute in her bed last week which allowed me to get a pic.

Studying

Alex is studying ENT with Daddy.

Spinning inches...

Notice Alex's progression... I placed her in the position of the first picture. I left the room and found her in the next position. Each time I walked through, she had scooted and turned more. I was highly impressed with her maneuvers as I watched her. She would glare at what she wanted to turn towards and then do it. She's learning so fast. These inches will turn to feet soon.

Wild Hair and Kisses

When we kiss Alex, this is how she kisses back. It's so sweet. We kiss her so much that she does this quite often...usually with a smile. :)

Playing

This is Alex in her new toy. She likes it even though she is not quite tall enough for it. We put a pillow under her to help. She looks like such a "big girl" in this as she is propped up.

I forgot to take pictures at it, but I hosted a play date for a few moms yesterday with kids within one year of each other. I even baked cupcakes for it since it was Alex's 4 month birthday yesterday. :) We had fun and plan to do something weekly.

Below is a common occurence. Alex tends to chew/suck her hands and fingers most of her waking hours. I even caught her sucking her thumb twice in the carseat this week. She is so cute when she tries to babble with her fingers in her mouth. Yes, she is talking a ton. We "communicate" to each other back and forth every day. I will repeat her sounds back to her and wait for her to babble again. It can go on for a long time. So fun! Working on "language development" has taken the place of teaching her to roll over. We stopped trying as I realized I didn't want to rush her learning that. HA! Alex already scoots when on her back which moves her about 6-12 inches from where she started. She even tries to scoot out of your lap or bouncy seat. She hasn't really tried rolling over from back to tummy again, but we have seen her try to roll over from tummy to back which makes more since as it is easier than the other way. She's a cutie!

75 Degrees

Winter??? Well, it was 75 degrees in Little Rock today. Therefore, Alex got to sport her new MISSION: ADORABLE short sleeved onesie that Gina Ferrara gave her for Christmas. Thanks, Gina! She got tons of compliments on our errands today. :)

Matching Outfits...

Alex and Reagan both had this cute outfit so Layla (Reagan's mom) and I planned to dress them alike for church. It was fun seeing them together. Reagan and Caroline (other cutie) are both sweet to "baby" Alex. They either kissed, hugged, or tried to pick her up. So sweet!

Roll Time

Alex is developing so much. Just yesterday, she seemed to try to roll over. So, I worked with her some on the floor and in her bed. She can now get up on her side by herself, but then gets stuck. With her persistance, she'll be rolling by tomorrow. We are also working with her to sit up. She is doing well and can sit alone for just a sec before she starts leaning to one side. Alex found her hands a few weeks ago and loves to have them in her mouth. She recently started looking and grabbing for her feet. This strong munchkin briefly stands in our lap and can bat and kick with force in her play gym. She has only giggled a couple of times. She smiles a lot though so hopefully the laughs will increase soon. She babbles much amidst the slober... We are having fun with this little munchkin. So thankful!

Cereal

Alex's New Year's treat was a taste of rice cereal. We tried it with her as she turned 16 weeks old and seemed to maybe be ready for it. mmm...not so much. Don't think she is ready. She only swallowed a couple of spoonfuls down as you can see the rest is on her face and bib. However, she was quite interested in the spoon and cereal so maybe it won't be long for her to get it down. We'll try again in a few weeks maybe.

Christmas in Mississippi

a bit behind on blogging...just enjoying the holidays. We enjoyed our trip south to see family and friends for Christmas.
