Smiling, Boxing, Talking, Singing, Dancing

One of David's many smiles.
He went for his 2mo check up this week. His stats are:
11.2 lbs (50%tile)
23 3/4 inches long (75%tile).
He is already scooting all over his bed. We find him turned 90-180 degrees often in his bed. He even goes forward. Slow down David!

"Leave me alone, Alex, or you'll get a right jab."

David loves to coo and smile. So precious! However, he does not smile on cue as you will see.

Alex loves to sing! She constantly asks for us to "sing another song." She catches on very quickly and remembers random songs that I forget she even hears. As you can see, David loves to watch her.

We visited a dance class this week to see how Alex would do and if she liked it. The instructor was great to let me sit in a normally "no parents" class and let Alex participate. She even let her borrow some tap shoes which Alex LOVED! Alex had fun and wants to go back so we are thinking about signing her up for the 2-3 year old class in the Fall that does tap, ballet and tumbling. I enjoyed watching the class as I took dancing for 10 years in which I started at 2 years old as well. Alex and I have practiced some steps since we got home. :)

Feel free to LOL as I do every time I watch these! The class had a recital in 3 days so they were practicing dances that they were going to perform. Alex did well jumping in for her first time while they had about a month to practice. Even though Alex didn't know the class rules and didn't follow instructions great, the teacher thought she did well because she tried the dances and didn't just stand there like many her age. Staying on that pink dot on the floor was tough for Alex.

Part of conversation of Chris and Jeff when Jeff saw Chris holding David:
Jeff: Who's that?
Chris: My son, David.
LOL!!! Ok Jeff, you need to join in the blog world to stay updated. Maybe Chrissa told you and you forgot. :) Actually you're excused as you are a full time student again.

Siblings, Going Away Party and More...

Sister and Brotherly Love

Since we have been inside a lot more than usual because of David and the heat, we brought a slide into the living room. It has proven to be great entertainment for Alex as she not only slides down, but sends her dolls, toys, etc down the slide, too. She even pretends they are climbing up the steps. So cute! She loves to ask for David to slide down. So, we often hold him and slide him down.

Just hanging out

Alex loves to help mommy, especially in the kitchen and especially if she hears the mixer start. :) I have been in the baking mood lately making banana bread, corn bread, beer bread, and various cakes. So Alex, has definitely enjoyed her share of batter and beater licking. :) She actually does help by pouring in measured ingredients, helping hold mixer, etc. Tonight she helped skewer kabobs until she kept sticking the marinated raw chicken to her mouth. She just couldn't understand she could get sick when they were coated in italian dressing. She loves dressing and sauces - any flavor! I love cooking with my sweet pea!

David, Alex, Reagan and Reese playing on the couch while we babysat one night. Alex and Reagan were having a ball being silly and head banging the back of the couch. Silly girls!

Layla and Reese... Layla and Jason hosted a farewell party for Mike and Brooke as they head back to TX this week. :( We had a great visit with everyone!

Mike and Brooke, we will miss you! Thankfully, the blogs help us stay connected and feel closer.

Blog Catch Up

Zoo day with Daddy at the end of his 6 weeks home with us. So thankful his research month fell the month after David's birth. Thank you, God!

David's one month birthday at the zoo...he napped the whole time except for nursing on the way out.

As you can tell, Alex preferred walking more than riding at the zoo. However, the stroller was great for her when we had to go a long stretch or if we were in a hurry. I so hope to get a double stroller soon to hold them both.

We traveled to MS several weeks ago when David was only 4 weeks old. This was our first trip with 2 kiddos. The traveling went fine, but logistics with 2 kids was crazy when we had functions to attend. It was a whirlwind trip like always in which I only took 5 pics. :( We got to visit lots of people including Aunt Tammy, Uncle Andy, Kelly, Amy, Aunt Cathy, Hunter, Anna Cate, Mimi, Grandaddy, Nancy, Billy, Grandmother and Aunt Lisa. This pic depicts our exhaustion as none of us slept well while away. Alex would ask to take her nap sometimes as she was pooped from a busy schedule and lack of night time sleep. Poor thing!

Little man napped all over the place on our trip - couch, car seat, packnplay, on top of beds, on chest, wherever... Traveling with little ones, especially newborns, made me even more thankful to be back in the comfort of our own home.

Creative Aunt Cathy showing Alex how to eat applesauce with a toothbrush as we didn't have a spoon on hand at the hotel. ha!

Picnic at Pinnacle Mountain July 4th weekend

Brother and sisterly love

Alex enjoying the seesaw with a girl she met at the park

Getting ready to walk the trail

Alex is still our social butterfly who befriends people just about anywhere we go.

Us at our 4th of July cookout

The Ramsey Family - Jason, Layla, Reagan and Reese

Jacob, Haven Rose and Becky. Haven was born 4 days before David.

As Layla put it on her blog, "The big kids." They all have younger siblings now.

"Can I please water your plants?"

Sporting July 4th spirit overall style...the only red, white and blue he had. Thanks for the hand me downs Iris. :)
Alex often brings David a stuffed animal and props it next to him. She has even been known to stack layers of them on top of him in the bouncey seat or swing. Yesterday, I found her throwing them over the crib rail to be in the bed with him. Thankfully, none hit him.

Playtime with Samantha so mommies could visit

Whenever Alex hears me tell David he is about to play in the jungle gym or have tummy time, she races to the jungle gym just to be next to him. She has really grown to love him and often calls him "my David."

My first adventure in the grocery store with both kiddos this past week. It went suprisingly well. Alex played in the car the whole time while David slept. The most difficult part was having enough room for the groceries as the carrier only fit diagonal in the buggy leaving only small pockets for groceries. Alex was a big help and let me pile stuff in the car with her. ha! And thankfully, Kroger offers to help carry out groceries. I totally took them up on it and the guy even loaded my car!

Alex turned 22 months old yesterday. We celebrated by going to the Spray Park in downtown Little Rock. Alex had a blast!

Then, we landed at Iriana's Pizza for lunch...YUM YUM!
