School and Visitors
Alex had her first day of "school" as we call it last week. She started going to a Mother's Day Out program once a week for 3.5 hrs. She did great!
Alex and David loved the visit from Mimi and Grandaddy this past weekend 
"Thank you, Grandaddy and Mimi. I love my new books and toys!" Christmas in August??? No, but it sure looked like it as Alex opened her (early) birthday gifts from Mimi and Grandaddy...and yes, David got prizes, too. :)

About 6 weeks ago, I discovered bath time for David was easiest when throwing them both in the tub together. Alex gets bathed first, then plays (or aggravates David) while he enjoys his bath.
Our little "star"dancing and singing to her own beat... sorry about the video being sideways. I recorded it vertically with the camera, but do not know how to flip it on the computer. anyone know how?

Library Blowout
You may think I am posting about a big blowout sale at the library. Well no, this is our poo blowout story from today! ha! So, no pictures will accompany this post even though I was tempted to take one as David had an impressive feat. ha! You are probably thanking me as it was a yucky mess. Some of you know he holds his poos a few days sometimes (has held it up to 7 days before, but usually 3 days or so) which results in major ones when he goes. This was his first public explosion. So, here's how it all went down...the long version.
We went to the library to return books and check out new ones. I left the diaper bag in the car as both kids just had diaper changes before we left the house. I was carrying the books to return in a new canvas bag from Nana and Papaw that I had designated as our library book bag. Along with the books, I stuck a burp cloth in it and my nursing cover to lay David down if needed. I strapped David in the Baby Bjorn (BB) on my chest with him facing out while Alex walked by herself. After returning the books, we went straight to the children's section to look at books. While walking down the first isle, David "ripples" if you know what I mean. I took a few more steps trying to decide if that was a toot or the real deal. A million things went through my head, but I stopped and slowly started lifting him out. I started to sigh in relief when I didn't see anything on his back, but then I felt warmth through my shirt and on my leg. I turned him slightly to see poo pouring out of the right side of the BB covering his right side and leg and the right side my shirt and shorts. It had dripped down my right leg, onto the library floor leaving a small trail and all but filled the bottom of the BB. It was a MESS! Needless to say, his new white and orange striped outfit from Nana and Papaw wasn't white anymore on one side. I quickly squatted to the floor to try to figure out how to contain this thick brown roux runny scrambled egg mess. I couldn't even get him out without more hitting the floor and spreading all over us. Ugh! I got him out of the BB and propped his bottom on it on the floor while holding his back and head up. I needed help so I asked Alex to go find someone to help me. She nervously started heading down the isle, but knew mommy was desperate. Before she made it too far, I saw a worker on the next isle, so I repeated "excuse me, excuse me" until she realized I was talking to her. This sweet worker saw my dilemma immediately (and the tears welling up in my eyes) and offered to help in anyway stating she was a mom, too, and understood. When I explained that I needed to get the diaper bag out of the van, she held David in his propped position so she wouldn't get messy and Alex stood by her. I wiped my leg off with the burp cloth and ran to get the bag, but had to stop once I got to the car to clean the poo from in between my toes and flip flops as I felt my foot slipping. Yuck! I even stopped in the bathroom on the way back in to clean my feet better and grab more paper towels as I knew I only had a small wipes container with me. When I returned, the sweet worker offered to take Alex to get some books and check them out while I dealt with David. I really had no idea how I was going to clean/contain this mess as it seemed to keep spreading, but I had got myself together and was determined. With David moving, it was now between his right toes, on his right arm, hand, and fingers. I laid the nursing cover down and began undressing him. I used every wipe I had cleaning him from all visible poo. I put his soiled outfit, burp cloth, nursing cover and the BB in the canvas bag which had drippings of poo on the outside of it, too. Thankfully, I had an extra onesie in the bag for him. During the clean up, I saw our friend, the storytime lady (Ms. Beth), who I told about the floor. She immediately went to get clorox wipes and started on the floor. Ms. Beth even helped me to the van with Alex. She said she had 3 kids close together and understood. As soon as we got home, I dunked David in a bath, I showered again, and then began the clean up process of all the soiled materials. And yes, I threw the flip flops away!
What I learned today:
- Stop walking as soon as you hear/feel the ripple.
- Bring diaper bag inside no matter what.
- Overpack diaper bag with wipes.
I'm so thankful for:
- Both ladies who graciously helped me!!!!!!!!!!
- David's outfit snapped down the front to get off and didn't have to go over his head.
- OxyClean which made Nana and Papaw's white and orange gift white again. :)
- Remembering to refill the wipes container last week.
- Keeping an extra onesie in the bag.
- How well Alex handled all this. She obeyed the ladies so well who helped us in the library. Then, she wanted to help mommy with all the clean up when we got home. So sweet.

Sleeping Bumbo Baby
David has been sleeping through the night (~9hrs) for almost a week now. He did not just start sleeping 9hrs on his own. We followed Babywise's tip for pushing a baby out. It took 7 nights (took only 3 nights with Alex) of some crying, wimpering, and pacying before he didn't wake anymore. Thanks to the book Babywise for helping us get David on a healthy schedule and for all the great helps! the bumbo... I would have never thought to try David in it so early, but my friend Becky did with her daughter at his age, so we tried it. David liked it. 
Since all employees and their families of AR Children's Hospital could go to Wild River Country waterpark for free this weekend, we went considering the normal cost is $15+ per person depending on what time of day you go. It was ok, but definitely not as toddler friendly as Splash Zone! btw... we did not leave David in the sun long. He did not like the bright hot sun, nor the cold water. So, he hung out with Chris most of the time in the shade. Chris was on call so he didn't get in the water. :(
Part of our free trip to the waterpark included free Corky's dinner. Before Chris joined us with Alex's hotdog, I was letting Alex nibble on my food. Eventually, she said, "I want that (referring to my bbq pulled pork sandwich). Let me hold it by myself." I gave it to her and she ate the entire thing, then her hotdog! That girl had played hard. I would have gotten her a sandwich but thought it would be a waste. I was wrong.

"Vacation"
Grandmother, David and Alex...We had a great visit with family at my mom's new house in Vicksburg, MS at the beginning of Chris' vacation week. 
My mom is a great cook even though she claims she doesn't like to cook. ha! She prepared a fabulous meal all by herself for over 20 family members who came to lunch one day. This was David's first time to meet some of our extended family. We have a big family as my mom and dad both were one of 7 children. We have tons of aunts, uncles, and cousins!

The girls had us laughing as they bopped each other on the head with bubbles. Amber doesn't look happy about it here, but they were having a ball!
Lunch with special friend, Cindy... and yes, our social butterfly climbed into a booth with a single lady and made us all laugh. See below.
We trekked up to Maumelle, AR one day to visit our friends who used to live right across the street. They have a beautiful new home with a short hike to a pond with ducks, walking/biking trail, playground, etc. We still miss them terribly!

While Daddy was off this past week, we went to Splash Zone, a mini waterpark, in Jacksonville, AR. Fun times! It is perfect for little ones and a great price. Kids under 4 are free and adults are only $4!!! We spent a wopping $10 as we ate our packed lunch on the way and Chris and I bought $1 wrist bands to ride the water slides. :)

My dad (Papaw) and my stepmom (Nana) surprised us with a visit this week in which they got to meet David. When we told Alex that Papaw and Nana were coming to visit, she said, "but I don't see Papaw and Banana." ha! She used to call a banana, nana. :)
Jasmine and Rabindra cooked a fantastic Nepali dinner for us one night last week. Yum! Yum! Jasmine had Nirvan about 4 months after I had Alex. She can't believe I already have another babe. :)

Our special friend, Graeme, offered to keep Alex and Reagan so myself and Layla could go to a women's Bible study led by Graeme's wife, Wendy. We were so thankful to Graeme as we both wanted to go, but our hubbies had to work. While keeping the girls, he got some great pics of them with his new camera.
